Sweet Bagatelle

"Sweet Bagatelle" is one of the classes that I offer and this afternoon I worked on some new teaching samples. Here are two views of one bag:

I also finished the four units of a quilt top from my Nancy Crow course and experimented with some different layouts. Each quadrant below shows a different set of orientations:

Which combination do you prefer?

In the top left quadrant I see a cross, while the other three quadrants seem to have the different energy of flow, rather than intersection. V. interesting to see, thanks for sharing!

Instinctively - top left - there just seems to be some connection in that one.

My eye search for pattern, and the only place I quite see it is the upper left quadrant.
Curious to see what you choose.

Hi Brenda -- welcome back home! I too am drawn to the upper left quadrant. That one has a strong sense of movement to me -- a pulling inward, like a vaccum...it will be fun to see what you decide to do with it.

Hugs!

bottom left! My eye searched for some order, and I like the directional rhythm there is there. Just to be different.

Bottom left! But they're all interesting.

I worked out there are 64 possible combinations from 4 blocks. I still has some testing to go!

I like the flow in the two arrangements on the right. I am not so keen on the top left arrangement (apologies to those of you who picked this one) - it seems so much more contrived with the obvious cross-like pattern. I like how the 2 on the right look more like linear features in a landscape.

Personally, I don't get Nancy Crow and Lisa Calls' work at all. Maybe I'm too much of a tradionalist.
